Please be informed that the Government has made an announcement of the introduction of the Malaysia Tourism Tax (MyTTx). A flat rate of RM10 per room per night will be charged to all foreign guests and shall be collected at the resort on behalf of Royal Malaysian Customs with effect from 1st September 2017.
This tax is necessary for the Country to carry out development, enhancement, maintenance and promotion of tourism in Malaysia.
Kindly note that the payment of Tourism Tax is mandatory by law.

Mataking Island – 10th Year Anniversary

2013 marked the 10th Anniversary of the opening of the Reef Dive Resort and Mataking celebrated it in style last November 30th together with its annual Staff Dinner with a “Black and White Theme”.

A total of 240 people included VIPs, guests and staff attended the dinner party.

The event started with the opening speech by Mr Patrick Guillaumin-Galland, Resort Manager, followed by the traditional Mataking Welcome Song. Then Mr David Sie, owner and Managing Director, gave his opening speech and officially opened the ceremony with fireworks which were followed by a staff performance on Michael Jackson’s Black or White song, and the blowing of the candles on the party cupcakes by the senior management team of the resort and Tawau office.

A special BBQ dinner followed for all the participants, during which a special video slideshow retraced the history of Mataking, including the building of the resort and all the special moments since the opening.

After Dinner the party continued with multiple dance performances, costume competition, games, special surprises and the Awards Ceremony presided by Mdm Sophia Sie, Executive Director. Rewards were given for 10 years service, best employee of the year 2012 and 2013, best department of 2012 and 2013, best sales for 2012 and more special awards.

The party continued late in the night with a boogie night.

Reef Day 2012 at The Reef Dive Resort set for Saturday, June 2th


The Reef Dive Resort Mataking will host their annual Reef Day on Saturday June 4th, 2012, in keeping with our tradition of community events focused on creating environmental awareness.

Each and every June, Mataking Island joins with local schools, community leaders, local NGO’s and military police divisions to raise consciousness of the conditions of Sabah’s aquatic realm, and how to improve conservation efforts in the general region.
